We have started our all about unit of study. This year we chose as a first grade team to do different habitats and research the different animals that live within them! Our class is focusing on the ocean! We are excited to not only research and learn about our animal, but present it in a poster to our other first grade friends and parents! (Publishing party date TBD!)
If you'd like to do some extra research at home online or at the public library, please feel free to do so! It would be great if your child could bring the additional information into school to use while we take research notes during writing. Below you'll find a list of the animals the students are researching... Parrot fish - Brooke & Kade Eel - Brix & Logan F. Whale shark - Cale & Tristin Sea Turtle - Lyric & Savannah Sea Horse - Tanner & Logan R. Starfish - Lexi & Kendall Octopus - Stella & Chloe Killer Whale - Lily & Cooper Sea Lion - Carson & Logan P. Crab - Myles & Tessa Dolphin - Shelby, Caitlynn, & Renee Puffer fish - Miss Petersen

We spent our week in science learning all about stars. We had fun watching videos and reading books to look at different constellations in the night sky but it was even more fun to be creative and make our own! First we drew our ideas on a white piece of paper and added dots to our drawings to serve as stars. Then we taped it to a black piece of paper and used a push pin to make the holes in our papers. (We had a discussion about safely using this tool and everyone was very careful and did a great job! ) This was a great way to end our week and now we have some awesome constellations on our window! |
